Following is the committee which has been established to investigate and pinpoint the culprits and responsible for the deaths due to use of Alfagril (Clopidogrel), Cardiovestin (Simvastatin), Soloprin (Asprin) and Concort (Amlodipine), substandard medicine which caused 76 deaths till now and death toll is expected to rise:

Ministry of Interior Issued a letter which reads: “The competent authority is pleased to constitute a JIT-Joint Investigation Team -to conduct investigations into the loss of precious lives in Lahore due to spurious drugs supplied by PIC-Punjab Institute of Cardiology. The JIT will comprise officials of FIA-Federal Investigation Agency- and Federal Health Department. The FIA director will be the convener while the Federal Drug Inspector will be its member.”

The task of JIT itself tells that this investigation will take months if not years to be completed because it has to investigate; exact number of death caused by substandard drugs, the origin of substandard drugs weather imported or local, and sketch the complete history of substandard drugs.

Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif constituted a nine member committee led by Chairman of the Chief Minister Inspection Team (CMIT) Najam Saeed to inquire the culprits.

The real question hears is who is responsible for the ongoing probe?

Responsible are as follow:

1-      The manufacturers who has produced low quality drugs which have caused deaths.

2-      Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) establishment who permitted the distribution of these medicine without proper and prior scrutinizing.

3-      The government who has issued the licenses to those manufacturers who have no pharmaceutical experience.

4-      Drug testing laboratory (DTL) of the Punjab government who has the responsibility to test the salt of drug.

5-      Doctors who are still recommending and advising Alfagrill (Clopidogrel), Cardiovestin (Simvastatin), Soloprin (Asprin),and Concort (Amlodipine), to heart patients,  which has caused deaths.

6-      Drugs regulatory authorities who are not doing their job as they are expected.

7-      Pharmacists who are knowingly still selling these drugs to the innocent patients.

8-      You and I are responsible for this death toll who is keeping our mouths shut whatsoever happen to us.

9-       Last but not the least; the user who is not willing to have any head regarding product knowledge.

These medicines are selling death to the heart patients in only 14 rupees. Chief Minister Punjab and his very close friend Dr. Saed Ilahi, the Health minister for Punjab are the true responsible for this Medicine Probe. Dr. Saeed Ilahi should resign immediately because he has failed to perform his duty and making lies regarding number of deaths. But I know this is not likely to happen due to our criminal negligence!

Substandard medicine will keep on selling but no one is bothering because in my opinion for us life don't worth a dime!
