Around 7 million people participants and Black one day blackout from around 10,000 websites have brought a partial victory to the Protesters against SOPA & PIPA. Senate Majority leader postponed the vote on SOPA and PIPA due to mass online protests. House judiciary committee chairman Lamar Smith also endorsed the postponement of SOPA and PIPA till the agreement between stake holders and government.
This overnight shift to Reid came due to withdrawal of support from senators who were supporters of SOPA and PIPA in the past. One of the Senate sponsors of the bill, judiciary committee chairman Patrick Leahy also respected the decision of the Reid. He also endorsed that the bill is still worth not debating in the senate.
